Act Now - Advisory Committee Seats Open
This Friday, September 20th is the last day to submit your letter of interest to serve on a Fort Myers Beach Town Advisory Committee and be considered on October 7th when Town Council makes their selections. Every committee has at least two seats up for appointment and some have four openings. But you must get your letter of interest to Town Hall before 4:30pm Friday.
The Fort Myers Beach Town Council benefits from the active participation of many volunteers who serve on eight different advisory committees. Working with a staff liaison, they delve into a variety of challenges, offering suggestions and solutions to staff and Council. All advisory committee seats are volunteer positions. Most are two-year terms. Each October, Council makes appointments and reappointments to advisory committees. If there are open seats, Council will consider letters of interest at any time during the year, but the major appointments occur in October.
Sitting members on those committees are eligible for re-appointment; there are no term limits, but they are considered along with anyone new who has applied. All committees have seven seats except the Audit Committee with five.
